Abstract

Microsponges delivery systems (MDS) are a novel drug delivery approach offering controlled and sustained release of active ingredients for topical application. These porous polymeric microspheres enhance the stability, efficacy, and patient compliance of drugs while minimizing side effects. MDS demonstrates significant advantages over traditional methods, including improved stability, reduced irritation, and controlled drug release triggered by environmental conditions. This review provides an overview of the formulation, evaluation, and potential applications of microsponge-based gels, highlighting their role in dermatological treatments.
